During all of the excitement of wedding planning, one of the most important purchases a bride will make is her wedding dress. Before heading out to the bridal shop, you should have an idea about which dress style you prefer. Keep in mind that every wedding dress is not for every bride. The key is finding a dress that flatters your figure and downplays your imperfect spots.

Here are some wedding dress guidelines based on your bodytype:

If you are full-figured, the most flattering dress style is the A-line, which lengthens the entire body without drawing attention to your midsection. Dresses with empire waists are another good choice for full-figured brides. The empire waist style is narrowest just under your bustline, therefore concealing your hips and tummy. Scoop necks and v-necks also flatter curvy figures and look best on women who are full-figured.

If you are petite, a-line wedding dresses will look very flattering on you as well since this style lengthens the body. Avoid sheath-style dresses, because they tend to shorten a smaller bride even more. Really full skirts are also not a good option for petite women , because they can make you appear bottom heavy. Make sure your dress and body are proportionate.

If you have a large bust, off-the-shoulder dresses will look wonderful on you. This is because these dresses draw attention upward by minimizing the chest and emphasizing the shoulders. Make sure to choose a tapered skirt; wearing a full one will make you look larger on top as well as bottom.

If you have large hips and buttocks, search for dresses with a full skirt that focus on your upper body and show off your arms, bustline, and back, such as a corset-style bodice. Because you want to take attention away from your hips, you should avoid gathered fabric around the waist or pleats. A-line skirted dresses work best for this body type.

No matter what your size, just remember these tips and know that no matter whether you are curvy, slender, short, or tall, you can still be a beautiful bride.
